The first email I got this morning was from one of my workmates – it was photos of the tsunami disaster. The first few were just of the waves coming in themselves (quite amazing photos), then I scrolled down to see people fleeing for their lives, including children – some on their father’s shoulders. I almost cried.
At first I was annoyed that she had sent these photos, but then I thought to myself, this is no worse then what I have seen on the news. And if anything, it re-enforces the magnitude of the disaster. I made my contribution (albeit quite small) to Care Australia yesterday, and I strongly recommend if you have even just a few spare dollars floating around, please do the same. I heard on the news this morning that there are going to be collections at most New Years Eve celebrations tonight, so please please please, just go without one or two drinks, and put in $5. Every cent counts. |
